Mosaic adds Shoebox Letters to his catalog of work - an acoustic folk/rock album recorded, mixed and produced with Mosaic's trademark touches for up-and-coming singer/songwriter Long Nguyen.
As a young artist who has played some of Los Angeles' hottest venues - including the Grand Star Jazz Club, 14 Below, Tangier and the Fillmore Lounge - Nguyen sought Mosaic's direction to lend a unique edge to a debut studio album that will establish him as a musician to watch.
Recording work for Shoebox Letters began in October of 2008 at Clear Lake Audio in Burbank, CA. When all was sung and done, what came of the collaboration were 10 tracks written and performed by Nguyen, and polished with a richly mellow, smooth, and undeniably cool sound by Mosaic.
"Listeners introduced to Nguyen through this first album will find that his sound bears a quality most similar to Damien Rice's," describes Mosaic, whose prior work has tended towards rock, pop and electronica. Shoebox Letters is, therefore, a clear demonstration of Mosaic's growing versatility.
