Studio Album Featuring Alice Tong Heads Up New Releases by Mosaic in 2010
The 2010 lineup of studio albums produced by Mosaic Sound Recordings (MSR) kicks off with the slated Spring release of please be brave before the lions they come, which will showcase 11 all-new original tracks by acclaimed singer/songwriter Alice Tong.
On the heels of the successful 2007-2008 releases of Mosaic's Through the Eyes of a Woman and Liberator, followed by the 2009 release of Shoebox Letters with acoustic folk/rock artist Long Nguyen, please be brave before the lions they come represents the fourth studio album produced and engineered by Glenn Suravech under the production name "Mosaic," for MSR. Alice Tong's album will helm a string of upcoming music projects - also featuring notable Asian American artists - that will each boast the distinctive Mosaic touch.
On please be brave before the lions they come, Mosaic's talent for polishing tracks adds new dimension to the warmth and depth of Alice Tong's music and lyrics. Alice herself is no newcomer to the indie music scene; as a mainstay in clubs all over the Bay Area, she has performed with some of the most celebrated world musicians of her generation. Her debut album Small delighted her fans and demonstrated her vocal talents through a selection of jazz standards. For the all-original songs to be featured on please be brave before the lions they come, her follow-up, she sought out Mosaic to create the most engaging, well-rounded and soulful sound possible.
As for other projects in the pipeline, Mosaic's 2010 production schedule ramps up with albums that signal an exciting expansion of scope. Among them is a record with TAIKOPROJECT - a nationally touring act that puts a contemporary stamp on a classic Japanese musical tradition. And as Mosaic continues to build momentum in the coming year, no fewer than two more high-profile albums are in the works and remain to be announced.
